rnbruckerI completely forgot that I made this probably well over a decade ago and never used it. It might've been intended for roleplay? I was in a friend/RP group over ten years ago that disintegrated and I vaguely remember us talking about maybe doing a dreamwidth community but obviously that never came to pass.
Anyway, writing this after seeing that Tumblr laid off more staff and people are saying around 25 employees are left. I've been on that site for ages and used to import my livejournal entries there, because why would I jump ship from blogging on LJ to a whole different site? WELP LMAO
I need a place to write whatever the hell I want and tumblr has been that place for me for a long time. bsky won't cut it because I'm wordy and need a lot of space for too many thoughts. Man. Tumblr has had some scares over the years but this one actually feels like it might do it. I was a baby college student when I first signed up and now I'm in my mid 30s. It's where I met my wife. It's also kind of, I feel, one of the actual last vestiges of the internet when social media was a bit more unhinged and less of a money making machine and/or vehicle for fascism. Tumblr has been imperfect but somehow the best site to use as all the other ones morphed into something grotesque. Tiktok is like a guilty pleasure for me--all junk food--and that's probably back on the chopping block too. bsky is too much like twitter still with people just being Like That. facebook I don't post to anymore since my wife went no contact with her family. instagram has and continues to be bad. I have fucking pinterest boards now to create aesthetic sheets for my characters because I think that technically counts as social media??
Man. What am I even going to write here? And how often? Tumblr has been the journal for me really coming into my own in adulthood but I guess everything has it's end.
...this is pretty nostalgic though. Reminds me of the peak of livejournal, down to adding the mood and music. that's pretty fun.
